If you're like me, you have a long list of "teacher books" you want to read (or even more like me, a pile of them sitting on a shelf, waiting to be picked up when you have a free minute). Here I hope to share books I'm currently reading, great books I've already read and why they are worth the read, and the list of books on my Must Read list.
Right now I'm reading Mathematize It!: Going Beyond Key Word to Make Sense of Word Problems by Sara Delano Moore, Kimberly Morrow-Leong and Linda M. Gojak. This excellent read details how to teach students to become problem solvers who are unafraid of word problems because they are able to "mathematize" and make sense of mathematical contexts. This particular version is for grades 3-5, but other versions are coming soon.
I'm loving Limitless Mind: Learn, Lead, and Live Without Barriers by Jo Boaler. This book takes the idea of growth mindset and really dives into how incredibly limitless our minds actually are. Boaler's expertise in education paired with loads of brain research makes this read perfect for teachers!
